Organization Description: The Black Coalition for AIDS Prevention (Black CAP) is a non-profit, community-based organization that serves Toronto’s African, Caribbean and Black (ACB) communities. The mission of the agency is to reduce the transmission of HIV within Toronto’s Black communities while enhancing the quality of life of those living with or affected by HIV/AIDS. Our approach to services recognizes that holistic approaches are required as we work with people who are living with, or at risk for, HIV. Black CAP is an inclusive space which provides services to a diverse ACB population that includes newcomers, LGBTQ communities, youth, and other at-risk populations.
Position Overview: Black CAP is currently seeking a Youth social media & Communications Coordinator to join our dynamic Marketing and Communications team. As a valuable addition to our team, you will leverage your social media skills, exceptional writing abilities, and track record of crafting engaging content across various platforms. Your creative flair for graphic design will also play a pivotal role in this role. Beyond your mastery of language and keen awareness of social media trends, you will demonstrate a profound grasp of analytics and amplification tools. Your insights will not only shape our social media strategies but also contribute significantly to our departmental priorities.
Please note that we are seeking youth applicants who possess a deep understanding of the specific requirements of people living with HIV/AIDS and lived and professional experience working in Toronto’s ACB communities. Responsibilities
Social Media
- Execute social media planning of a rolling monthly calendar.
- Create social media content, stories and series that connect with various audiences.
- Increase engagement, encourage sharing and push to the Black CAP website.
- Leverage all opportunities to extend messaging reach, including boosting, influencer engagement and internal staff engagement.
- Ensure a consistent brand experience across all platforms, including brand voice and creative elements.
- Discover, share, and integrate emerging digital trends, best practices, relevant competitor/industry approaches, new solutions and opportunities that can contribute to Black CAP strategic objectives and/or audience experience.
Communications
- Media monitoring, development, and distribution of media scan reports
- Provide writing support, including for Black CAP newsletters and other writing and communications projects as needed.
- Monitor brand reputation and reviews, including Google, develop and post responses.
- Departmental budget coordination
Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge of various social media platforms and their respective best practices, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube.
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Premiere, and After Effects or other platforms.
- Understanding of content marketing, brand identity, and audience engagement strategies.
- Written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling and on-brand messages.
- Passion for social media and staying up-to-date with industry trends.
- Demonstrated experience working in Toronto’s ACB communities and experience in the field of HIV/AIDS and LGBTQ services.
- A minimum of one year experience in a community-based, non-profit organization.
- Demonstrated experience engaging in high-level interactions with a broad range of stakeholders.
- Commitment to using AR/AO and GIPA frameworks.
